The Covid Chronicles: June 26

June 26

  • Dallas County: 19,034 total cases, 496 new cases, and 10 more deaths.

Okay, there's a lot to discuss.

We've been taking it on the chin over the past week and we set a record high for new cases today. Even the governor took notice and on Wednesday, paused the state's reopening plans.

But news moves fast and the Governor's office just announced that we're having to roll back some reopening steps.

#BREAKING: Gov. Abbott rolls back reopening in Texas.

  • All bars must close at noon today except delivery and take-out.
  • Restaurants move back to 50% capacity beginning Monday
  • Rafting and tubing businesses must close

Churches and other religious services may continue to operate at full capacity.

I doubt we'll end up on full lockdown again, since no one is going to do that a second time.

No word if it bears resemblance to Verdi's "Dies Irae"

"I’m probably the only human being on Earth who can whistle the entire human insulin gene.” Scientists turn DNA into music. They've even translated the coronavirus into a tune. https://www.wsj.com/articles/a-scientist-turned-the-coronavirus-into-musicheres-what-it-sounds-like-11593176569?mod=e2tw
